The main motif on the plate is a banana tree.
I have dated the plate to the 19th century, but it is possible that it may be from the 18th century. I am unable to determine this.
This plate belongs to a group called Swatow, which is export porcelain from the late Qing dynasty, originally intended for the Southeast Asian market. The traditional name in the Western world originated because Swatow, today's Shantou, was a port in southern China in Guangdong province, from where the goods were probably exported. Most of the kilns were located near Zhangzhou, Pinghe County, Fujian.
