Do you have a favourite teaware and would you like to travel with it?
Me too, as I have a lot of experience with it, as I take teaware everywhere. From a day trip, to Morocco, from a long hiking pilgrims way to Compostela, to mountain hikes. I won't lie and write that when I go seriously into the mountains, when I have to take off my backpack in difficult terrain and handle it sometimes really "improperly", I put the whole thing in a plastic, yes you read that right, plastic box. But for long hikes through the usual mountains, for day trips into forests, mountains, meadows and cities. Simply being a backpacker, I actually get along very well with this. :-)
PADDED
The sides are padded with THREE LAYERS of very thick cotton fabric. The bottom even has FOUR LAYERS. There is of course an outer decorative indigo fabric and inside Czech linen fabric. This padding ensures that no sharp edge of the ceramic can be felt by hand on the outside.
The OUTER FABRIC is very densely woven, strong. I would compare it to the fabrics used to make military backpacks or tents.
HOW MUCH AND WHAT FITS:
Inner SIZE is L120 x W120 x H100 mm
You can comfortably put inside:
- a bowl and into it a shiboridashi or gaiwan
- a travel chawan
- two larger tea bowls
Inside, we RECOMMEND that you buy our double-layered fabric (double gauze) measuring 850 x 240 mm, which is suitable for wrapping the ceramics between each other and can also serve very nicely as a chabu (placemat for tea utensils).

ORIGIN OF THE OUTER FABRIC:
A beautiful fabric dyed with river clay with a high iron content. This fabric is therefore nicknamed “mud fabric”, in the original “bògòlanfini”. Originating from Mali. I am unable to determine the approximate age of the fabric, approximately the 1990s. It has got strong SOUL, beautiful cchi, vitality, a strong feeling of nature: bush, savannah… Something like that.
INTERNAL FABRIC:
Cotton dyed by shu puer.
Material:
Cotton and handmade wood-fired button
WASHING:
Wash as little as possible, always by hand with natural washing powder. Water temperature up to 30 degrees. Wringing, if necessary: just wrinkle like a sponge for washing.
